The event follows the Silicon Valley format, based on meeting with motivating people and sharing experiences. However, it adapts to European conditions where regional differences, the absence of a common market, as well as different local policy frameworks play a major role. It provides information on local business conditions or on local funding. It strives to create a business-friendly environment in the different regions of Europe so as to be competitive as a whole in the global markets.
The past years of the Start Europe Week in Liberec have attracted students and people who are planning to start a business, but also those who have already run their startup and work on its development. The participants met with local inspirational entrepreneurs and representatives of regional institutions, such as Dalibor Dědek from Jablotron or the head of the Liberec region Martin Půta.
Pathfinder of the Startup Europe Week idea in Liberec is the DEX Innovation Centre, which focuses on supporting innovation, e-solutions, and innovation infrastructure building. "Our mission is to improve society through the research and innovation. Start-ups are key players. We work with almost hundred European start-ups now, but with very few from our region. We want to change it, we want to use our knowledge in our region." says Jan Kubalik, director of DEX IC.
