Tesla Medical wins DemoDay 2020!

09. 02. 2021

4DigitalHealth is a partially personalized program that supports digital healthcare startups through mentoring and networking. Check out the winner and other startup pitches.

"In 2020, we felt the need to support healthcare. Therefore, 4DigitalHealth was created from the parent program DEXIC Accelerator. During the first year, we worked with teams that develop solutions for monitoring the health functions of seniors, use telemedicine for psychological help or develop software for health professionals that simulates real procedures." says Michal Štefan, DEX Innovation Centre, chief mentor of the program.

"#DemoDay is the final day of the program, which we were forced to change from the ground up due to the current situation," adds Štefan. “The new #DemoDay is available online, accessible anytime, anywhere. All 7 teams will present themselves through short videos without unnecessary talk."

Video presentations were made by 4 Czech and 3 foreign startups:

  • AiBrace – Bracelet for monitoring the health functions of seniors

  • AppDermis – An application that makes life easier for people with eczema

  • Heuristik – Solution to eliminate errors caused by incorrect patient identification

  • SATI App – Applications providing mental health services

  • ScientiCore – A secure platform for sharing R&D data and knowledge from the natural sciences

  • Tesla Medical – Non-invasive treatment of the disease by neuromodulation

  • Virtual Lab – Simulation software for healthcare professionals using virtual reality

Winner of the program

The jury faced a difficult task - to choose the best startup. The criterion was, for example, whether there is sufficient interest in the product on the market, how the product is understandable or whether the product is interesting from the investor's point of view.

The winner of the 1st year of the 4DigitalHealth program was a Czech startup Tesla Medical, which also took first place in the public vote. Tesla Medical uses a non-invasive neuromodulation method to reduce the symptoms of overactive bladder. According to clinical trials, the reduction in symptoms is at least 50% in 80% of patients who have failed previous pharmacotherapy. As many as 40% of patients achieved a 100% reduction. Tesla Medical thus significantly increases the overall quality of life of people suffering from this syndrome.

The AiBrace team with its smart bracelet placed close behind. It can detect a fall, monitor respiratory or cardiac function and call for help in the event of an emergency by pressing a button. It can be used by both seniors and newborns. The third place was taken by the startup Virtual Lab, which with the help of virtual reality helps to gain professional security and skills for doctors and nurses, increases efficiency in the operation and servicing of medical equipment and instruments.

The jury consisted of three experts - Tamás Békási, Healthcare Startup Expert from EIT Health; Douglas Wong, Impact Investor, Millennium; and Jan Kubalík, CEO of the DEX Innovation Centre,

"The goal of the 4DigitalHealth program is to support startups that have a high potential to bring new health products and continuously improve the quality of life of the whole society. We know that startups need capital or lack some business skills," the program summed up Jan Kubalík.
