The hackathon starts for you with watching the recording of an Introduction session. If you haven't registered as a team already, we will match you with another hacker to form a team or to any of the currently hacking teams.
You will be hacking flexibly anytime (based on your time availability) until 13.12.2020 with borrowed equipment from us for your hack. However, we don't expect you to hack all the time - just imagine spreading time of 1 intensive weekend into smaller parts over a longer time period.
Our mentors with technological knowledge will consult your ideas and guide you to a successful outcome.
On December 14th, we are going to have a dedicated presentation skills workshop. Two days later, on December 16th, you will present your idea with the task to persuade the jury that your idea is the right one.

A year ago, we opened a brand new one-stop-shop for rapid prototyping in the centre of Liberec called DEXIC µFabLab and launched NewGenerationSkills programme with a focus on digital skills.
When COVID-19 hit, we have been thinking about how can we help. Together with many others, we started printing 3D parts for the masks to be used by medical staff. At the same time, Italy and other countries had a problem with a critical shortage of lung ventilators for people suffering severe symptoms of COVID-19.
So we started working on an emergency lung ventilator that will serve as the last instance - when other solutions fail or are not available. The idea is that the ventilator can be almost fully assembled from the parts from a 3D printer and locally available parts. And here we are, introducing the challenge.
This time, you will be focusing on improvement of the emergency lung ventilator.
We bring you 5 challenges related to the improvement of DEXIC Vent.
You will get access to almost every piece of equipment from DEXIC µFabLab - 3D printers from Prusa, Voltera for printed circuit boards, Arduino, motors, resistors, wiring, laboratory power stations or artificial lungs. Basically everything you will need for construction of the ventilator from zero!
You will meet some of the mentors most relevant to you. Let's introduce them.
Jan Kubalik
Jan is a CEO of DEX Innovation Centre - studied nuclear physics and has a technological background in computer science. He loves new technologies that are bringing numerous opportunities.
Jan's latest project is the DEXIC Vent and he will support you in various technological aspects, such as 3D print, coding and others.
Stefan Andonovski
Stefan says that mechanical design always results in creating something new - that way, you will never be bored in your job again! He runs several projects in DEXIC FabLab.
He is a certified Autodesk professional and 3D designer that will help you with PCB or3D modelling and printing from a wide range of materials.
Tomáš Hujer
Tomáš focuses on electronics & programming since his elementary school and loves discovering how to use old equipment in new ways. He develops web and IoT applications in NodeJS, JavaScript, C ++ and PHP.
Arduino is easing his device development for more than 5 years and Tomáš is ready to pass you his knowledge.
Leoš Petržílka
Leoš is an experienced lecturer at the Technical University of Liberec with twenty years of experience in the field of electronic and mechanical design. He is also a technology scout in the field of the partnership between the university and technology companies.
During the Hackathon, he will help you with electronics and Voltera for printing printed circuit boards.
Michal Znamenáček
Michal started working during his studies as an IT expert in a small company - Cotrex in Jablonec nad Nisou. He found his passion for 3D printing and mechanical design & construction.
Michal and his colleague are currently working on their startup Wurep, building own 3D printers in collaboration with Blueberry 3D Print. He will guide you through Mechanical design.
Lenka Kosková Třísková
Lenka is a Lecturer at Institute of New Technologies and Applied Informatics, responsible for lectures in Automata and language theory, Operational systems classes, Complexity and computability, Single-board computers and Compilers.
She will be happy to discuss and help you with the IoT matters.
