5. 3. 2018, in the Cultural Centre Vratislavice 101010, startups from all over the Czech Republic competed for the best pitch with the participation of Martin Půta, Governor of Liberec Region. Whalebone, a company from Brno which filters the dangers on the Internet, was the best of them.
DEX Innovation Centre together with project partners from Hungary and Romania took part in the peer review visit in Budapest - Újbuda district, on February 26th - 27th 2018. Purpose of the study visit was not only cross-fertilization on the example of good practice but also an introduction of the Local Action Plan introduced by the Lead Partner from Hungary, in order to support and develop the entrepreneurship culture within youth.
Two days before, in scope of the DEXIC Boot Camp, 6 ICT startups are going to work on their projects under the guidance of experienced business mentors. The results will be presented during their final pitch at the Grand Final of DEXIC Boot Camp. It takes place on Monday, 5th March 2018 from 16:00 in the Cultural Center Vratislavice 101010.
On March 3 and 4, six startups specializing in information and communication technologies will improve their business strategy and pitching, 4-minute presentation for potential investors. Mentors and business professionals will work with them in group workshops but mainly during individual sessions.
The DEX Innovation Centre’s initiative InnoSchool (Strengthening social innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of secondary schools´ students by using highly innovative Learning System) was invited to the 5th International Stakeholder Conference of the EUSDR PA9 with the subtitle 'The Future of Work: A World of New and Changing Skills' which took place in Moldava, autumn 2017. Representative of DEX Innovation Centre, Jan Kubalík, succefully presented InnoSchool Learning System. The conference was organized by the Danube Region Strategy, which addresses 12 strategic areas for the development of the Danube Region.
On Thursday, 1 February 2018, Universidad Politéctica de Madrid, Spain, hosted an international conference titled „ICT technologies empowering people with mild dementia and their carers.“ The conference brought together project consortium, which consists of 9 institutions and health centres from all over Europe, as well as ICT and healthcare experts. All together discussed mild dementia and possibilities of its treatment by using different ICT tools.
For the third time, Liberec next to Prague and Brno will awake Czech start-ups’ scene by holding Start-up Europe Week 2018. It is the biggest event for start-ups in Europe. This year will be held in more than 280 European towns. This event was brought to Liberec by Jan Kubalík, an international mentor and Chairman of the Board of DEX Innovation Centre, which is a co-organiser of the event in Liberec.

It is estimated that around 9 million people are living with dementia in Europe. Dementia symptoms tend to get worse over time and gradually begins to damage the brain. A project SMART4MD developed a computer tablet-based application that focuses especially on the needs of people with mild dementia. At the conference, project consortium and experts with technological and healthcare background will discuss approaches to the treatment of mild dementia and how SMART4MD application and other ICT technologies can improve the effort for a better life of patients, their caregivers, as well as healthcare and ICT professionals.
On Tuesday 12.12.2017 representatives of local companies, a banking sector and universities met in the Regional Scientific Library in Liberec to gain relevant information about Industry 4.0 in the Liberec region. The workshop Journey to Industry 4.0 brought theoretical knowledge and also practical experience of local companies. At the end of the event, the examples of the best practices from Poland and Hungary were presented by the virtual connection.

The proposal aims to improve the access to finance for highly innovative start-ups by boosting linkages among providers of finance, start-ups and other key actors of territorial ecosystems.
ICT Proposers' Days 2017 have taken place on 9 - 10 November in Budapest. Among more than 1000 participants from 49 countries were also experts from DEX Innovation Centre (DEX IC). They participated on the biggest brokerage event with pre-arranged FacetoFace meetings in this field. During two days they held more than 30 meetings in order to build quality partnerships focusing on the Horizon 2020 Work Programme for 2018-20.
